Two cities, one agent

Houston or Las Vegas? Compare them side by side.

Neither state has an income tax, so the real differences are property tax, home prices, utilities and weather. Here are the numbers from official sources, for the areas Lisa works in.

Lisa is licensed in Nevada and Texas, so she can walk you through specific homes in both before you decide.

Good to know: Las Vegas

  • Nevada caps the yearly increase in property tax on a home you live in at 3%.
  • Most neighborhoods have an HOA, and some have more than one. Lisa lays out the full monthly cost for each home.
  • Summers are hot and dry: plan for air conditioning and desert landscaping.

Good to know: Houston

  • Texas offers a homestead exemption on the home you live in that lowers its taxable value for school taxes. Many newer Houston-area neighborhoods also pay MUD taxes.
  • Hurricane season runs June through November. Check the flood zone and flood history for any address (Lisa pulls both).
  • Summers are hot and humid, with much more rain than Las Vegas.
